How to ask for deletion
Either way works:
- In the YAS Campus app, signed in to the account: students go to Me Delete my account, everyone else to More Delete my account, then “Send request”.
- Or email the school office at admin@yas-campus.com from the address on file, naming the student or staff member.
The request reaches whoever manages accounts at the school. A request sent from the app while signed in to the account is enough on its own: the account it comes from proves who you are, so nothing more is asked. For a request by email, someone contacts you to confirm your identity before the account is closed. Requests are normally actioned within 30 days, and the app shows the request as sent until then.
What is deleted
- The sign-in itself: closed permanently, so it cannot be used again, and every phone and browser signed in to it is signed out
- The email address and username on the account
- The photo on the student's or staff member's file
- Every chat message you sent, with its photos and the “new message” notices about it in other people's notifications, your place in class groups, the people you blocked, and the reports you made that are closed
- Notification tokens for your devices, and your in-app notifications
- For a parent: the account's link to their children
Your one-to-one conversations stay for the other person, with their own messages. There your account shows as “Deleted account”, and nothing more can be sent to it. A deleted student's or parent's account also reads “Deleted account” on any record that still points at it.
What stays, and why
- Records the school must keep by law: enrolment and registration, contracts, payments and receipts, attendance, marks and results, and homework hand-ins and quiz answers. These are the school's accounting and academic books and one account cannot erase them.
- The guardians' phone numbers and home address on the student's enrolment file, because they are part of that file and of the signed contract. You can ask the office to correct them at any time.
- A staff member's HR file (pay, leave, attendance and documents), as an employment record. A staff member's name also stays on the payments and marks they entered, marked as a removed account, because those are school records.
- A message you sent that someone reported, while the school has not yet closed the report: it is taken out of every chat, so only the school's chat moderators can see it, and kept with its photo as the report's evidence. It is deleted when the last open report on it is closed. A message whose reports are all closed is deleted with the account like any other.
- A report you made about someone else's message, while the school has not yet closed it: it stays with the school's chat moderators, and is deleted when it is closed.
- What a teacher published for a class or to the school gallery (material, quizzes and posts), which belongs to the school.
- The audit log: it keeps the request and a line recording that the account was deleted and by whom, so the school can show the request was carried out.
Your child's account
A parent may ask for a child's account to be closed, or its PIN reset, at any time, by either method above.
